Grandfather's Love

Tripp and Ellie

I became a grandfather a little over 2-1/2 years ago to a little girl who we call Ellie. Her given name is Elizabeth Grace. From the time she was born I have been on a totally unexpected "magic carpet ride" which I hope never ends. I have been through two digital cameras and literally thousands of pictures which have chronicled her life from the day she was born.

I could never have imagined the joy she would bring at this stage of my life. I have raised three sons now ages 20 to 35 and they have made me very proud and continue to reward me with the fact that I know I had some small part in making them what they are today. If my sons read this, perhaps they will forgive me for saying that Ellie is now the love of my life. I have been very fortunate and feel blessed that Ellie's mom and dad have allowed me to be such a big part of Ellie's life and I tell them that all the time.

I know some Grandparent's who don't seem to enjoy grandchildren as much as I do, but to them I can only say I'm sorry. Happiness is Ellie saying "hold me gramps".

This was written 2/12 years ago and Ellie is now 5. She was born August 19, 2002 and being a Gramps has only gotten better and more rewarding. Her little brother Tripp was born in March 2006 and I have gotten double the pleasure in enjoying being a part of his life as well. The "magic carpet ride" continues to get even better.

You will treasure time even more when you share it with your Grandchildren. And they will have something that very few children can acquire now: someone else's time. (Anonymous)

My photo memories are stored at eyeeye.smugmug.com. When Hurricane Katrina put 6 feet of water in my house and destroyed all my computers, I was blessed to have everything online with smugmug.
