In the case of patients affected by FM can appear pains and these can be relieved with medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.To relieve the pain the physician may prescribe Tramadol which is one of the newer non-narcotic or low doses of antidepressants like Tricyclic antidepressants and serotonin reuptake inhibitors or benzodiazepines. Low doses of antidepressants help the patients to have an improving sleep and a relieving pain. Higher levels of these or other medications are given when depressions are present. Also to reduce areas of pain are used lidocaine injections into the patient's tender points.

To maintain muscle tone and reduces pain and stiffness the patient may have a regular program of gentle exercise and streching which is an important thing of pain management.

Through a healthy sleep regimen the patient can obtain an improved sleep. For that the patient must have the same program every day, going to bed and getting up, a comfortable room temperature, a supportive bed. Also he must avoid caffeine, sugar and alcohol before bed and must avoid to eat immediately before bedtime. In cases when patient's sleep is disturbed by restless legs and periodic limb movement disorder can be prescribed new sleep medications which are helpful.

An individual emotionally are often meet at the people with a chronic illness. So the patients with FM need to the emotional support and communication with the family and friends. From this point of view in United States exist support groups. These groups offer important information about FM and the patient with FM can discuss with guest speakers subjects of particular interest.

Therapies can be beneficial. Such therapies include: physical therapy, therapeutic massage, myofascial release therapy, water therapy, light aerobics, acupressure,

application of heat or cold, acupuncture, yoga, relaxation exercises, breathing techniques, aroma therapy, cognitive therapy, biofeedback, herbs, nutritional supplements and osteophatic or chiropractic manipulation.

The quality of life has improved by support groups, organizations and medical professionals. The symptoms of FM can be different in severity and often wax and wane, but the majority of patients tend to improve over time.

By making lifestyle changes and by keeping a hopeful attitude the FM sufferer can heal and become healthy.
