CABBAGE/MEAT CASSEROLE

 

1/2 head cabbage, shredded

3 or 4 carrots, shredded

2 C. chopped onion

1/4 c. cubed salt pork

2 Tbsp. soy sauce

1 Tbsp. catsup

1/2 tsp. sugar

1 lb. lean ground beef

1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp. bouillon

1 C. hot water

1/2 c. milk

2 eggs

1/4 tsp. garlic

1/4 tsp. pepper

1 c. cooked rice

Saute salt pork in bottom of a large casserole. Add 1 cup of the onions, cabbage, and carrots. Cover and cook about 5 minutes until wilted, adding soy sauce, catsup, and sugar. Mix the meat, 1 cup onions, rice, bouillon, milk, eggs, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread meat mixture over vegetables and add 1 cup hot water. Cover

and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
